Sister Cities

The first Sister City Program, Sister Cities International, was founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956 to give national focus to affiliations between cities in the United States and in other countries for the purpose of promoting peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation. These international partnerships promote shared exchanges and initiatives between cities in order to boost understanding and cooperation.

On November 1, 2022, the Sun Prairie Common Council adopted an ordinance establishing a sister cities program for the purpose of promoting cultural exchange and commercial ties.

Current Sister Cities

Sun Prairie currently does not have any sister cities. Interested organizations can complete an application and submit a letter of intent to the city for consideration.
