Connect Greater Madison: Regional Transportation Plan 2050 Update – Interactive Mapping Tool Available for Submitting Comments
Having an efficient, reliable, and safe transportation network is important for making the Greater Madison Area a great place to live, work, and play. Whether you travel by automobile, transit, bicycle, or walking, or perhaps all of these, the quality of the overall transportation network is important.
It's important to know how well the current area transportation network is serving your needs. Use the interactive mapping tool to post comments on the network, identifying specific gaps and challenges, as well as what you love and what’s working well. This commenting tool is open and available from August 23 to October 3, 2021.
In addition to using this tool to provide your own comments, please share this information with your networks, co-workers, friends, family, and neighbors.
This feedback is being sought as part of the Connect Greater Madison: Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) 2050 Update process. The RTP is an integrated, multi-modal plan that provides the overall framework for transportation planning and investment decision making in the region. It identifies projects, strategies, and other recommended actions to be implemented by WisDOT, the MPO, Dane County, and local communities.
The RTP is refined through corridor, area, or mode specific plans and other planning efforts. Planning for the RTP is being integrated with the Capital Area Regional Planning Commission’s (CARPC) preparation of the Regional Development Framework (RDF). The RTP will be designed to support the growth scenario developed as part of that effort, which is based on RDF goals and strategies and local comprehensive plans.
Click here to be taken to the interactive map where you can provide your feedback. Results from our public survey earlier this summer are posted and available for review here, including presentation slides summarizing the results.

Sun Prairie Media Center
Basketball Announcers Needed!
The Sun Prairie Media Center has a unique sportscasting opportunity for any basketball fan, for anyone interested in TV sports casting, or for anyone who just wants to hear their voice transmitted to millions (well, at least dozens).
This year the SPMC will broadcast over 40 total Sun Prairie Cardinals boys’ and girls’ basketball games on KSUN, sunprairiemediacenter.com, and 103.5 FM The Sun Community Radio.
We are in need of three enthusiastic, knowledgeable, professional, and entertaining sportscasters for games. Money is no object, because we don’t pay for these positions. They are strictly volunteer opportunities. But hey, you get the best seat in the house and who knows, maybe this could be the springboard for future appearances on “Inside the NBA”!
If you have the desire and passion to be KSUN’s season-long voices to call out every play, to question every foul, and to celebrate every slam dunk, this could be the chance you’ve been waiting for!
Anyone interested is urged to contact the Sun Prairie Media Center IMMEDIATELY at 837-4193 or via e-mail at jrobbins@cityofsunprairie.com.
The first game in the 2021-2022 season that KSUN is covering is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18. For a full schedule of games, go to sunprairiemediacenter.com/ksunprograms.
KIDS-4 Registration Open – Calling All Middle School Students!
KIDS-4, the one-of-a-kind media production/media literacy experience unique to Sun Prairie, is almost full for the 2021-2022 crew year. However, middle school students are needed for the program’s special “Thursday Night Live” sessions!
“Thursday Night Live” is unique, even within the already-special KIDS-4 program. During the weekly “TNL” sessions, students who are typically in 7th and 8th grade meet in the early evening to plan and prepare a program that airs LIVE on KIDS-4 Thursdays at 6:30 PM!
“’TNL’ is a long-standing tradition at KIDS-4,” said KIDS-4 Production Manager Rachel Packard. “Although our other KIDS-4 ‘crews’ are loads of fun for our students, there is something especially exciting about coming in and pulling together a live show from scratch. Plus, while other KIDS-4 projects tend to be worked on over a period of a few weeks, students who participate in ‘TNL’ get the satisfaction every week of completing a project!”
“’TNL’ consists of whatever the participants bring to it,” continued Packard. “There can be short comedy sketches, interviews, monologues, really anything the students want to do.”
As with all KIDS-4 crews, students should expect to be collaborate in all aspects of the weekly ‘TNL’ production, from sound, lighting, directing, cameras, in addition to bringing creative ideas and being on-camera.
Registration for KIDS-4 is open right now at kids4.tv and is expected to close on September 17.
-KIDS-4 Registration Information: https://www.kids4.tv/kids-4-signup-info/
-Contact Sun Prairie Media Center with questions at: 837-4193 or Rachel at rpackard@cityofsunprairie.com -Program Fee = $125 for Members and $150 for Non-members. Price includes a t-shirt, crew poster and USB drive complete with child’s produced work. Scholarships available for those who qualify.
