Vehicles cannot be left on the street for longer than 48 hours without being moved. No unregistered motor vehicle can be located upon any highway or municipal lot within the City of Sun Prairie.
NO PARKING is allowed on any City street until the SNOW EMERGENCY has been cancelled.
Cars parked on the street during a SNOW EMERGENCY make snowplowing operations more difficult. Snowplows must be sent back to areas where vehicles were parked to remove snow that has become a frozen hazard. This increases the cost of snow removal and affects service delivery.
SNOW EMERGENCY WARNINGS are called in to local radio and TV stations. You may also sign up for text / e-mail alerts at www.nixle.com. In addition, you may check the City's website (www.cityofsunprairie.com) for the current parking status or call the Department of Public Works at 608-837-3050 (from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday).
NO PARKING on SNOW ROUTES from midnight to 7:00 a.m. beginning December 1 through March 31.
SNOW ROUTES are the first streets plowed following a snowfall and are used by emergency vehicles. To effectively clear these streets, they must be free of parked vehicles.
Vehicles Weighing Over 10,000 Pounds (10.16.080)
No parking any vehicles or combination of vehicles in excess of 10,000 pounds or over 22 feet in length on any street, avenue, or public way in the City except upon a street in a business district defined by WI Statute 340.01.
Parking places with 1 hour parking will be allowed between the hours of 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. Parking permission may be granted by the police department on a case-by-case basis. To do so, contact the non-emergency line 608-837-7336.
