Values

Respect for our community. We are honored to hold Sun Prairie’s history in trust for residents past, present, and future. In the work we do and the relationships we build, we are always professional, empathetic, and respectful.

Growing connections. We build relationships between our institution and the wider community, so that our work is always relevant and impactful.

Collecting with purpose. We acknowledge the importance of a wide variety of artifacts and archival materials to the greater story of our community. Our collection is diverse, dynamic, and forward-facing, and we manage it to the highest achievable professional and ethical standards.

Honoring our diverse identity. We will equitably represent and serve the Sun Prairie community in our exhibits, educational programs, collections management, research services, community engagement activities, and volunteer opportunities.

History is accessible. We meet people where they are. Our programs and services are easily accessible to the public, both physically and digitally, whenever possible.

History is an adventure. We are memory-keepers, storytellers, and investigators of the past. Curiosity is at the heart of our culture. We strive to grow our understanding of the past and bring the joy of history to everything we do.
