The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting to preview the upcoming US 151 resurfacing project in Sun Prairie. The meeting will be held at 4 p.m. on March 20 in the Sun Prairie City Hall Council Chambers, 300 E. Main Street. WisDOT staff will attend to present traffic staging and schedule information.
The project will repair pavement along a four mile section of US 151, including the interchanges at WIS 19/Windsor Street and County N/Bristol Street. Eight bridges carrying highway traffic over Main Street, Windsor Street, Bristol Street and Columbus Street will undergo repairs and will be given a deck overlay to extend the service life of the bridges.
Work has begun to prepare highway shoulders and ramps for construction. Off peak lane closures are expected for roughly two weeks. Beginning on or shortly after March 27 (weather dependent), US 151 southbound traffic will be restricted to one lane of travel until mid-July. The southbound entrance ramps to the highway at County N (Bristol Street) and WIS 19 (Windsor Street) will be closed during this stage. The posted detour will use the ramps at Main Street and County C.
Northbound lane restrictions are scheduled to begin in mid-July. The $10.1 million project has a completion date of October 27, 2017.
