Meeting Access During COVID Pandemic

Greetings! Due to the on-going COVID pandemic, the City Hall building will likely be closed to the public beginning April 8th. Opportunities for interested citizens to submit public comments and participate in the Plan Commission meetings will be provided through the Zoom platform.  To facilitate faster ease of access to future meetings using Zoom, we suggest you sign in early by going to: https://zoom.us/ (sign up is free).

In an effort to allow residents to become more informed about proposed development projects and other zoning matters, application materials are typically available a few weeks prior to scheduled Plan Commission meetings. Regular meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Sun Prairie Municipal Building at 300 East Main Street.

Special meetings are called on occasion when deemed necessary. Agendas and meeting materials are typically issued about a week in advance of the meetings. Please find links to upcoming meeting agendas and active development applications.

The City Plan Commission is a 9-member body consisting of the Mayor, 2 alderpersons, 1 member of the Park & Recreation Commission, 1 member of the Sun Prairie area school district board, and 4 citizens. The Plan Commission serves as an advisory body to the City Council, making recommendations regarding zoning amendments, planned developments, conditional use permits, subdivision plats, and most certified survey maps. The Plan Commission is also responsible for the preparation and recommendation of the city's comprehensive plan.

  • Public Hearing:  TELLURIAN, INC. - PC20-2775 
    Resolution approving a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) to allow the establishment of a Community Living Arrangement Lane Use (homeless shelter for single mothers) in an existing building located at 35 Tower Drive.                                                                                                                            
  • Public Hearing: BRENDA MERRELL - PC20-2783
    Resolution approving an amendment of the Official Zoning Map to rezone approximately 2,061 square feet located at 317 Benz Court from Suburban Residential (SR-4) to Neighborhood Commercial (NC) in conjunction with a Certified Survey Map (CSM) that would adjust the property line.                                                                                                                                     
  • Public Hearing: PATRICK KINSELLA - PC20-2785 
    Resolution approving a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) to construct a five-foot (5’) high fence within the street yard setback area at 331 Scott Trail.                                      

  • Public Meeting: GEBHARDT DEVELOPMENT - PC20-2780
    Review and consideration of a Concept Plan to amend the West Prairie Village General Development Plan (GDP) to allow a 308 unit mixed multi-family development on 9.54 acres of land located west of N. Thompson Road and south of Colorado Avenue.  [REQUEST TO TABLE BY APPLICANT]
