Building Inspection
The Building Inspection Division is staffed and open to the public at City Hall. We would appreciate it if you are in search of technical assistance or inspection staff services, you contact us in advance for an in-person or virtual appointments for inspection services. Please use the methods listed below for the applicable service.
All commercial plan review, permit and inspection services moved to on online portal powered by OpenGov in August, 2021. Communications related to these services, including approval documents and payments are conducted through the portal. Please do not attempt to “pre pay” any plan review or permit fees outside of the permit portal. You will be notified of any amount due when your submittal is processed. Once payment is posted in the system, all approval documents will be generated in the portal and available for you to download, print, and post at the jobsite. For more information on the OpenGov portal, please visit https://cityofsunprairie.com/1445/OpenGov
We would prefer that all field inspections are scheduled through the OpenGov portal, but will still accept email and phone requests, although they may take longer to process and schedule. All requests must be received no later than 8:00 AM for the possibility of same day service.
Field inspections will be evaluated as requests come in and conducted when it is determined it is both essential, and safe for both staff and our customers. Certain inspections may be completed via alternate means such as Zoom or pictures at the inspectors’ discretion. Please see the current inspection protocol on the Division’s Inspection Request website https://cityofsunprairie.com/210/Inspection-Request
