Sun Prairie Producers Win Midwest Awards
Sun Prairie Media Center producers, Jan Moore and Mike Cunningham, received four different awards at this year's Wisconsin Community Media Annual Video Festival. The conference and video festival awards banquet took place on April 26th & 27th, and are attended by access TV stations from all over the Midwest. The purpose of this festival is to recognize outstanding video productions produced by public, educational and government access facilities and their producers. The following programs received top awards in their respective categories:
Award of Excellence & Best in Show Produced by Seniors: Amateur
Category: Documentary / Feature, Public Access Program, Produced by Seniors
  • "Footprints of Sun Prairie Then & Now" Producer: Mike Cunningham
  • Mike Cunningham produced this video to help celebrate the City of Sun Prairie's 175th Anniversary. This short video incorporates historical & modern day pictures of the city along with narration. Mike worked with Peter Klein at the Sun Prairie Historical Library & Museum, and Anna Hahm to create an accurate, original video about the history of the City of Sun Prairie.

  • "Prairie Perspectives, President Obama in Madison" Producer: Jan Moore
  • Jan Moore recorded the events in Madison when President Obama visited the city in the fall of 2012. With a press pass, he was able to capture the President's speech from Bascom Hill on the UW Madison campus.

Category: Short Form Documentary, Public Access Program
  • "Reel Talk Gun Control" Producer: Jan Moore
  • Jan Moore produced this short video by interviewing local community members about recent tragedies across the country and how they can be prevented. He attended the local Sweet Corn Festival last year to gather these interviews.
